ASUS introduces two new ROG phones: ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate. Both phones show great similarities to the current ROG Phone 6 series, but get a Dimensity 9000 Plus soc. The Ultimate variant also gets a more extensive cooling system.

The biggest change in the ASUS ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate is the MediaTek soc, which features an Arm Cortex-X2 core at 3.2GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores. The current ROG Phone 6 has a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip from Qualcomm. The 6D will also be available with up to 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage, while the Ultimate variant comes standard with 512GB of storage. Both phones will get Lpddr5x memory and Bluetooth 5.3 support.

The ROG Phone 6D Ultimate also gets a detachable AeroActive Portal. This cooling system can be attached to the back of the phone and can cool the internal cooling block of the smartphone via an automatically opening air inlet. The ROG Phone 6 also comes with a detachable cooling system, but that has no opening to the smartphone’s cooling system.

The phones are otherwise almost identical to the current ROG Phone 6 devices. The 6D variants again get a 6.75″ AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 165Hz. The 6000mAh battery with support for 60W fast charging also remains unchanged. The housing itself also remains unchanged. The phones run just like the current ROG Phone 6 series on ROG UI, which is based on Android 12.

The ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will soon be available in Europe and will have a suggested retail price of 1399 euros. The regular ROG Phone 6D gets a suggested retail price of 949 euros. For that amount, ASUS supplies a variant with 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage.
