Debian version 8.0 codenamed Jessie has been released
Debian has officially released version 8.0 of its Linux distribution. The development team has codenamed the software Jessie. Debian 8.0 includes updated multimedia software, as well as an improved installer.
The arrival of Debian 8.0 was announced on the creators blog. Those interested in the operating system can download it directly from the download pages. Users who already have a Debian installation can download the new version of the software with the command apt-get dist-upgrade.
The development team behind Debian has previously disclosed improvements in version 8.0. For example, a lot of media software has been updated and a package with XBMC is available. In addition, the Linux distribution includes an improved installer; it bears the name Jessie Installer. Furthermore, users can install the Cinnamon and Mate desktop environments.
