As promised, Ricoh has presented a new module for its GXR camera system. The module is equipped with an aps-c image sensor and Leica M lens mount. The GXR A12 Mount module will be available September 9.

The new GXR module has a mount for mounting Leica M lenses and a cmos image sensor in aps-c format. The sensor has a micro-lens layer that should ensure the clarity of the image in the corners. The magnesium alloy die-cast housing should ensure high rigidity.

Ricoh has equipped the GXR A12 Mount module with a mechanical and an electronic shutter. The first allows a maximum shutter speed of 1/4000s, while the bulb mode allows a shot of up to 180s. With the electronic shutter, the shortest shutter speed is 1/8000s and the maximum exposure time is one second. The module can also record 720p video.

For accurate manual focusing, it is possible to display the image enlarged 4x or 8x on the LCD. Ricoh says it has improved the image quality of these zoom modes for more precision. You can also scroll through the image with the d-pad in the zoomed position. The module is equipped with new settings for, among other things, the correction of image distortion and correction of the brightness at the edges of the image. It is also possible to adjust the color gradient to the lens used.

With the arrival of the GXR A12 Mount module, the number of GXR modules will be five. The A12 28mm F2.5 and the A12 50mm F2.5 Macro, both with an aps-c image sensor, have previously appeared, the S10 24-70mm with a 1/1.7″ CCD and the P10 28-300mm module with a 1/2.3″ cmos sensor. The GXR A12 Mount module will go on sale September 9 for $649.
