Cyberpunk 2077’s Lead Gameplay Designer Leaves CD Projekt RED
Cyberpunk 2077’s lead gameplay designer Andrzej Zawadzki is leaving CD Projekt RED. Zawadzki was employed by the game studio for nearly eight years. He started as a QA tester at the company, after which he worked on Cyberpunk for over four years.
Zawadzki announces his departure on Twitter, where he writes that his time at the studio is over after eight years. “It’s time for the new adventure,” reports the developer. Zawadzki started as a QA tester at CD Projekt RED in 2013 and has been working on Cyberpunk 2077 since 2016. He started on that project as a junior gameplay designer and was gradually promoted to lead gameplay designer.
The developer does not disclose which company he will work for in the future. Zawadski reports on Twitter that he takes a long vacation first. He does so opposite Kyle Rowley, who previously worked on Cyberpunk, but is now the director of an unannounced game from Control developer Remedy Games.
Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10 and received a lot of criticism for bugs and technical issues. All versions of the game suffer from bugs, but the original PS4 and Xbox One had the most problems. Developer and publisher CD Projekt RED has been sued by investors, among others, who believe that the studio was not honest about the technical condition of the game. The company is working to fix the issues and will release Patch 1.2 later this month.
