Sony stops selling and renting movies via PlayStation Store
Sony will stop offering movies and TV series on its PlayStation Store on August 31. According to the manufacturer, PlayStation users make extensive use of streaming services. It seems that there is little enthusiasm for buying and renting films and series.
Sony does not say anything about the number of films and series that are sold, but the manufacturer says it is adjusting its offer because the wishes of customers change. Sony sees that PlayStation owners make a lot of use of paid streaming services, or free services with advertisements.
If Sony stops offering individual films and series after August 31, buyers will still have access to media they have previously purchased. They can watch it on their PlayStation 4 or 5 and on mobile devices. Microsoft also sells movies and series through the download store on its Xbox consoles. As far as we know, there are no plans to stop this.
