Microsoft adds alias support to Outlook for desktop and web
Microsoft is working on the ability to send emails from aliases in Outlook for the desktop. The company confirms that the feature will come in March. Aliases can now only be used in the Outlook web app.
Microsoft has put the feature on its roadmap. It says aliases will be supported by Outlook for Windows in March. It allows users to “send an email from a proxy email address or an account alias instead of their primary email address,” the company said. It will then also be possible to directly send an e-mail back to that alias.
Until now, it was only possible to set up aliases via the web version of Outlook.com, but not in the desktop app, nor in Outlook for Web or OWA, the business service within Microsoft 365. Also in the latter, aliases would to be added later in March.
