Renders of what should be a new compact Sony Xperia phone have surfaced. Until a few years ago, Sony had the Compact series of smaller phones, but did not release any new models in recent years.

The new phone would also fall into the Compact series, OnLeaks reports. According to the information, the device is 140×68.9×8.9mm in size. That’s slightly larger than the most recent Compact phone, the XZ2 Compact measuring 135x65x12.1mm. It is also larger than the iPhone 12 mini that appeared a few months ago. It measures 134.5×64.2×7.4mm.

The phone is said to have a 5.5″ screen. Sony generally uses 21:9 screens on its phones. If that’s the case with this model, then it’s about a screen of about 70 square centimeters, with dimensions of 12.8×5.5cm.

At the top of the screen is a notch that houses an 8-megapixel camera. Sony has only used a notch on cheap phones in recent years; more expensive models have symmetrical screen edges, with the same amount of space above and below the screen. On the back is a 13-megapixel camera and an unknown secondary camera. The fingerprint scanner is located in the Power button, while a 3.5mm jack can be found on top.

OnLeaks does not mention other specs and therefore it is unknown, for example, which processor can be found in the device. Also memory and storage are not clear. The Compact series that was there from 2013 to 2017 mainly has high-end models, but it is unknown whether this is a more expensive or cheaper model. Sony has not responded.
