Sapphire Introduces Passively Cooled Radeon RX 5700XT Video Card For Servers
Sapphire introduces its GPRO X070 video card. This card uses an AMD Radeon RX 5700XT GPU and is completely passively cooled. The GPU is displayed in a rack server and, according to Sapphire, is intended for compute workloads, such as rendering 3D images.
The Sapphire GPRO X070 has a cooling block with four heat pipes. The clock speed is 1605MHz with a game clock of 1755MHz and a boost clock of 1905MHz in its default mode. The manufacturer also equips its X070 with a more ‘efficient’ bios, which lowers these speeds to 1500MHz, 1700MHz and 1750MHz respectively. The GPU is also equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory at 14Gbit/s, with a 256bit memory bus. That’s good for a bandwidth of 448GB/s.
The video card is intended for professional workloads, according to Sapphire, with the company citing 3D renderings and 3D visualizations as possible use cases. The card would also be designed for use in compute systems, according to Sapphire, although it also partners with software developer Cudo to sell servers for crypto mining with these GPUs.
For example, the manufacturer shows on its website a rack server with ten GPRO X070 video cards. Such server enclosures generally provide sufficient airflow, which enables passive cooling. The GPRO X070 is also equipped with an HDMI connector and three DisplayPort connections. It is not yet clear when the Sapphire GPRO X070 will be available. There is also no mention of suggested retail prices.
