TP-Link expands smart home line with smart video doorbell and security camera
TP-Link is expanding its range of Kasa products for smart home applications to include a smart video doorbell, a smart outdoor security camera and a dimmer with a motion sensor.
The Kasa Smart Doorbell with type number KD110 is a smart doorbell that can record video at 1080p resolution. The camera can distinguish people from moving objects and send a notification to the user based on this. Users can purchase a paid subscription for online storage, or use a microSD card for local storage, with a maximum capacity of 128GB.
TP-Link also introduces the water-resistant Kasa Cam Outdoor. This outdoor camera can record images in 2k and according to the maker this can also be done in poor lighting conditions, while a spotlight is present to shine in the night. In addition to online, this camera can also store images locally, on a microSD card of up to 256GB. The Kasa Spot Pan Tilt has similar specifications, but is for indoor use and not water resistant. It does offer tilt support and there is a motion sensor for tracking objects and people.
The Kasa line also includes a smart dimmer, the KS220M, with a motion and a light sensor. The motion sensor can be set to turn on lights when residents pass by, while the light sensor makes this only happen in the evening or at night. Operation is via the Kasa Smart app or manually. TP-Link has not announced prices yet.
