LG TVs will get support for Google Stadia and GeForce Now by the end of this year
At the end of this year, at least new LG TVs will receive support for Google Stadia and GeForce Now. It seems that apps for LG’s webOS will be available for that. It is not yet known whether older TVs will also receive support for the streaming services.
LG briefly mentioned the arrival of Stadia to its TVs when presenting its new OLED models. According to The Verge, the manufacturer has confirmed that GeForce Now is also coming to LG TVs. Google has clarified to 9to5google that Stadia will not be available for LG TVs until the end of 2021.
The game streaming services can currently only be used with external hardware on TVs, for example with Google’s Chromecast or for Stadia and the Nvidia Shield for GeForce Now. If the LG TVs get support for the services, it will likely work through an app for LG’s webOS. It is not yet known whether the app for the streaming services will also come to older LG TVs. For now, LG only mentions the functionality for its new 2021 models, which will be released later this year.
Google has previously indicated that TVs running on Android TV successor Google TV will receive support for Stadia in the first half of this year. Sony has already announced new TVs with that operating system and they will also receive Stadia support.
