Netflix releases children’s shuffle function with Mystery Box

Netflix has made a shuffle feature available for children. With Mystery Box, children get to see a new series or movie that they have not seen before. Previously, adults received a similar function with the Play Something button.

The Mystery Box button appears within the Favorites Row at the top of the front page of Netflix’s kids’ section. This button appears as a purple question mark on a rainbow background. Clicking the button will bring up a new series or movie that the child has not yet seen, with the text ‘New to you’.

According to Netflix It can sometimes be difficult for parents to encourage children to try something new. The company thinks it can do this in a fun way with the Mystery Box, which gives it a better chance of success. Since last year, adult users also have a shuffle function with the Surprise Me button.
