‘Microsoft will release Surface Laptop with Arm SoC in 2024’
Microsoft will announce the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 in the spring of 2024, Windows Central claims. The laptops are reportedly optimized for AI. Intel and Qualcomm will supply chips for the devices.
It will be the first time that both the Surface Pro and the Surface Laptop will have versions with an Intel chip or an Arm chip, writes Windows Central based on internal sources. There is already a Surface Pro 9 with an Arm SoC on the market, but no Surface Laptop yet.
Both laptops will have a next-generation NPU chip. The sources are said to be especially enthusiastic about the Arm variant, because it is a modified version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon The new architecture would make the PCs suitable for the new version of Windows. According to the site, this is called Hudson Valley, but will probably be released under the name Windows 12.
Furthermore, the Surface Laptop 6 will have two versions: one of 13.8 inches and one of 15 inches. The laptops will have a new design and more ports. The Surface Pro 10 also gets a better screen that supports HDR.
