The space strategy game Homeworld 3 from developer Blackbird Interactive has been given a new concrete release date. Previously, the game was scheduled to be released in February 2024, but the release has now been postponed to March 8, 2024.

In addition to revealing the release date has Blackbird shared a video, which offers a look behind the scenes. Blackbird CEO and co-founder Rob Cunningham notes that the studio “had to wait twenty years to achieve the desired scale and scope in the game.” “This is what we wanted to achieve in Homeworld 2, but the technology at the time didn’t allow it,” says Cunningham, who worked on Homeworld 2 at Relic Entertainment. That game was released in 2003.

Furthermore, Blackbird shows a few functions in the video. This way, players can choose between the controls from the previous Homeworld games or one that is more similar to the controls of other RTS games. The player only has to click on an element in the environment to get there.

Homeworld 3 was initially slated to release on PC in the first half of 2023, but the release has been delayed a few times since then. The developer felt he needed extra time to improve the quality of the game.
