Adata announces new PCIe 4.0 SSDs under its XPG brand. The XPG Gammix S70 comes in variants of 1TB and 2TB and achieves sequential read and write speeds of up to 7.4 GB / s and 6.4 GB / s.

Which nand memory and which controller there are in the XPG Gammix S70 ssd’s, Adata does not mention on the product page. Presumably it concerns tlc-nand. The manufacturer does report that the SSDs are equipped with a dynamic slc cache and a dram cache buffer and that they are NVMe 1.4 compatible.

At the beginning of this year, Adata showed prototypes of fast SSDs at CES, including a model that can reach speeds comparable to what the manufacturer is now claiming. A prototype at the time used the InnoGrit Rainier IG5236 controller.

The XPG Gammix S70 SSDs have an M.2 2280 form factor and feature Adata’s CoolArmor heat spreader. It is made of aluminum and consists of several steps with hollow chambers, which provides a larger cooling surface.

When the PCIe 4.0 SSDs will be for sale and what they will cost has not yet been announced. Last year, Adata released the XPG Gammix S50 SSDs. These are also PCIe 4.0 SSDs, but they reached a maximum of 4.7 GB / s. Last week, Adata presented the Gammix S50 Lite variants, PCIe 4.0 SSDs with SM2267 controller, which go up to 3.9GB / s.
