YouTube is discontinuing support for the old YouTube API, causing the video site to stop working on some 2012 and older smart TVs, 2010 or earlier Apple TVs, and iOS devices running iOS 6 or older.

Users of smart TVs and Blu-ray discs from 2012 and older from, among others, Sony and Panasonic and older versions of Apple TV can no longer watch videos via YouTube, according to the page that the service has put online. Users of older versions of Google TV, a product of YouTube parent company Google, are also out of luck.

Anyone using a device with iOS 6 or older, such as an older iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, can access YouTube through the Safari browser. By adding a shortcut on the home screen, those users can still quickly access YouTube.

YouTube will no longer work on older devices due to Google ending support for YouTube API v2. Google announced that a year ago, but support ended on Monday. It’s unknown how many users watched YouTube videos through the platforms that Google no longer supports, but the video the videos site shows on older devices has more than half a million views.
