Intel Compute Stick with Linux will be available from 117 euros
Intel’s Compute Stick will be available in Europe in two to three weeks. There will be a variant with Linux, for a starting price of 117 euros, and a version with Windows 8.1, which has a starting price of 170 euros. The Linux version has less memory and storage capacity.
Intel announced its Compute Stick in January and it has now been included in the Geizhals price comparison. From this it can be concluded that there will be a version with Linux, which does not mention which distro is involved, but Intel previously announced that it is Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. This version has prices at online stores from 117 to 151 euros and a delivery time of two to three weeks. The variant of the stick with the 32-bit version of Windows 8.1 with Bing will be available around the same time and has prices from 170 to 211 euros.
The Intel Compute Stick contains an Atom Z3735F quad-core from the Bay Trail series. The Linux version of the hdmi stick contains 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal flash storage. The storage capacity can be increased via a micro SD card. Intel equips the Windows 8.1 variant with 2GB of memory and 32GB of storage capacity.
In both cases, the stick can be powered via the single micro-USB connection, but also via an adapter. There is also a USB 2.0 port, and 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 are also available.
