Instagram stops with its own Nametags and starts with standard QR codes
Instagram has discontinued its own Nametags and started using QR codes instead. With those qr codes, stores can, for example, direct customers to their Instagram account and provide further information.

Nametags can only be scanned within Instagram, while standard qr codes can be scanned with any app that supports qr codes, writes The Verge. That should make them easier and faster to scan for users who don’t need to open the Instagram app first.
The option is located where Nametags used to be: when clicking on the menu at the top right of the profile, an option for qr code will appear. This generates a qr code with an Instagram logo in the middle and a username at the bottom.
Users can scan each other’s code to find each other, but according to The Verge, companies can also paste it somewhere to make themselves findable for customers. Many other social media also use a standard form or modified form of qr codes.
