Early version Xposed framework for Android Lollipop comes out
A first version of Xposed has been released that works with Android versions from 5.0 and above. The plug-in framework has been ported to work with ART, the runtime that Dalvik replaced in the Lollipop versions of Android.
One of the developers behind Xposed, rovo89, released the first version of the software in a forum post on XDA Developers. It can be downloaded by anyone, although it is known that there are problems with some Samsung smartphones. Users need to install a zip file via their recovery. In addition, there is another apk file to be able to use the plugins that work with Xposed. Root access is required for installation.
Because it is an alpha version, not all functions work as they should. Several plugins that use the Xposed framework are not working yet. On the forum of XDA Developers, the necessary users also report problems with the installation. This will probably be worked on in future updates.
Earlier this week, developer rovo89 already showed a log file showing that a quick release for Android Lollipop, the codename for versions from 5.0, was coming. The framework did not yet work with the new Android version because there was no compatibility with the ART runtime yet. Xposed is a so-called plug-in framework, with which the functionality of the operating system can be extended.
