Microsoft buys Sunrise calendar app
Microsoft has bought the Sunrise calendar app. The purchase comes a few months after the company bought mail application Acompli and converted it to Outlook for iOS and Outlook for Android. It is unknown what Microsoft’s plans are with Sunrise.
It seems people are turning to the makers of Outlook for mobile platforms, so it’s only natural that the Redmond-based company wants to bring the functionality of Sunrise into the Outlook apps. Microsoft announced the acquisition via a YouTube video and then with a statement on its own site.
Sunrise is a calendar app that came out last year that provides functionality like the integration of many web services to import data. The calendar app also provides weather forecasts for locations with appointments and tries to recognize activities. Sunrise is available on iOS, Android and on the web.
