Bioware has announced that it is discontinuing Shadow Realms development. The developer team would like to focus more on other Bioware titles, such as Star Wars: The Old Republic and Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Gamers were recently able to register for an alpha test of Shadow Realms, but this test round has now been canceled, Bioware has announced. The game studio says it wants to come up with another way to thank subscribers for their interest in the action game.

Bioware goes on to say that it can imagine gamers being disappointed with the decision not to release Shadow Realms. Still, the move would be necessary in order to prioritize the development of some of the studio’s popular titles in its portfolio. Bioware mentions Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dragon Age: Inquisition and a new entry in the Mass Effect series, among others.

In July, Bioware showed a teaser video of Shadow Realms. It became clear that it had to be an asymmetrical action game in which RPG elements are included. In the online multiplayer game, four players competed against one other player, just like in shooter Evolve. Since the announcement, there have been rumors that the development of the title would be slow.
