Dell gives Inspiron laptops uHD screens and renews Alienware line
Dell has announced Latitude and Inspiron models at the CES electronics show that will be available with Intel’s new Broadwell CPUs. In addition, the range of laptops from subsidiary Alienware has also been adjusted and renewed.
Dell has revamped Alienware’s laptop lineup and removed the 18″ model. The company introduced a new 15″ model and upgraded the hardware of the 17″ model. In addition, the new flagship has become thinner and lighter. Both models can also be supplied with a UHD screen, but it is no longer possible to equip Alienware laptops with two video cards.
The 15″ model is available with a dual-core Intel Core i5 processor or a quad-core Intel i7-4710HQ. With the 17″ version, the i7-4710HQ is now the minimum and an i7-4980HQ can also be chosen. Both laptops have 8GB of memory as standard, but this can be expanded to 16GB. With the previous 17″ model, you could also opt for 32GB of RAM, but this is no longer the case. You can choose from various cards from Nvidia and AMD for the graphics calculations, and the external Graphics Amplifier is also supported.
The Alienware laptops will be available January 8; the 15″ model will have a starting price of 1499 euros and its big brother should cost at least 1749 euros.
At CES, Dell also announced that it would equip its Latitude laptops with Intel’s just-released Broadwell CPUs. All models in the Latitude series can now be equipped with various processors from Intel made using the new 14nm process, starting with the Core i3-5010U at 2.1GHz, up to the i7-5600U at 2.6GHz. The laptops can be equipped with both SSDs and traditional hard drives and in many cases are also thinner and lighter than their predecessors.
In addition to the laptops in the Latitude series, Intel’s new Broadwell CPUs can now also be found in Dell’s Inspiron systems. In addition, the 15″ model of the Inspiron 7000 series is now also available with a UHD touchscreen for displaying 4k video. In addition, the 23″ all-in-one Inspiron from Dell will be equipped with the Intel RealSense 3D Camera that Intel announced at CES last year.
