Sony presents 1200 euro Walkman
Sony has presented a 1200 euro Walkman during the electronics fair CES. At the same time, the Japanese manufacturer also came up with LDAC, a way to stream audio with better sound quality than was possible before via a bluetooth connection.
The Walkman ZX2 plays a variety of audio formats, such as mp3, flac, wma, wav, Apple Lossless, aiff and dsd. In order to play the audio as well as possible, Sony has put its S-Master HX amplifier in the device, while the DSEE HX processes the sounds and, according to the manufacturer, reduces high-frequency sounds that are not audible on CDs and MP3s.
The ZX2 also supports Sony’s proprietary LDAC technology, which allows users to stream more data over a Bluetooth connection for better sound quality over a wireless connection. The device itself has an aluminum housing of 13.1 x 6.5 cm in size and 18.5 mm thick, which makes it most similar to a thick smartphone in terms of size.
The screen has a diagonal of 4 “and is an LCD with a resolution of 854×480 pixels. Sony has put Android 4.2 on the Walkman, while Google apps are also present. The standard storage is 128GB and there is also space for a micro- SD card with a maximum capacity of 128GB.The ZX2 follows the ZX1 that Sony presented sixteen months ago.The Walkman ZX2 will be released this spring and the manufacturer asks 1200 euros for the device.
