Valve is said to have stepped up the fight against cheaters in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive behind the scenes. It is not known how many players have been banned, but on the internet many people report that a wave of Valve Anti-Cheat bans has been implemented.

The trend has been spotted by the game website Kotaku. The site has asked Valve for a response, but Kotaku has yet to receive a response. The exact scope of the fight against the cheaters is therefore unknown. However, it is clear that Valve has optimized its mechanisms against certain cheating software. Some shortcuts by which the hackers have evaded the detection mechanisms in the past are said to have been closed as a result. On platforms like Reddit, screenshots of players who have been blocked are posted.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was already discredited in November when it became known that several professional players were using certain hacks. The hacks were difficult to detect, as they had no ostentatious effects on gameplay. Despite this, the cheats would give the players a slight advantage over the other gamers. Some of the major gamers have fallen through the cracks, but it cannot be ruled out that others have also been guilty of using the methods.
