WhatsApp is reportedly working on an ‘alternate profile’ feature, which will allow users to set strangers to see a different name and profile photo than contacts.

The site states that it will be especially useful if WhatsApp starts offering a system with usernames. Then more strangers can see the profile. The option can be seen in two places: when setting up the profile and when limiting the visibility of the profile photo.
