OnePlus introduces its first smartwatch on March 23
OnePlus will show its first smartwatch on March 23. The company is teasing that on its Twitter account. The introduction will take place during the presentation of the upcoming OnePlus 9 smartphones. OnePlus previously reported that it will release a smartwatch in early 2021.
OnePlus posts a teaser of its smartwatch on Twitter, which appears to show parts of the case and the rubber watch strap, among other things. Judging by the teaser, the watch appears to have a round screen. The tweet itself redirects to a ‘Watch This Space’ forum page, where users can guess what the product is. Participants are invited to give ‘only wrong answers’.
There have been rumors about a watch from OnePlus for some time. At the end of August, a listing of a OnePlus Watch appeared at a Singapore government agency. CEO Pete Lau confirmed in December that the company is working on its own smartwatch, which may be based on Google’s Wear OS, although this has not yet been confirmed. The CEO reported a week later that this watch would be released in early 2021. The company says it was already working on a smartwatch in 2015, but eventually scrapped those original plans.
