Nvidia developers have released a new whql version of their Geforce drivers, identified by version number 178.13. Support for Physx has been officially added to Geforce 8, 9, and 200 series graphics cards, so that physics calculations can be performed much faster compared to a processor. In addition, several bugs have been fixed for the Vista drivers, allowing the gamers among us to continue playing with peace of mind without seeing small irregularities here and there. The list of changes of this latest version looks like this:

What’s New in Version 178.13:

• This driver version includes support for NVIDIA PhysX acceleration on all GeForce 8‐series, 9‐series and 200‐series GPUs with a minimum of 256MB dedicated graphics memory (this driver package installs NVIDIA PhysX System Software v8.09.04).
• Added support for the GeForce 9400 GT.

Fixed Issues–Windows Vista 32-bit

Single GPU Issues:

• GeForce 9800 GTX: HellGate: London (DirectX 10)–textures for the character and objects disappear at high settings. [446424]
• GeForce 8300/8200/8100: EverQuest2–the game shows geometric corruption at resolutions higher than 1280 X 1024. [445460]

Multi-GPU Issues:

• GeForce GTX 280/260: The discrete graphics card does not properly switch in and out of HybridPower “Save Power” mode. [456213]
  NVIDIA has determined that a minimal fan RPM is needed to deliver the most reliable experience in switching into and out of Hybrid SLI Save Power mode and has thus enabled a minimum fan speed when this mode is selected. NVIDIA recommends using only 178.13 or higher drivers for HybridPower support.

Fixed Issues–Windows Vista 64-bit

Multi-GPU Issues:

• GeForce GTX 280/260: The discrete graphics card does not properly switch in and out of HybridPower “Save Power” mode. [456213]
• GeForce 8800 GTX/Ultra: Half‐Life: Episode 2 there are flickering shadows after switching resolutions. [353309]
