Meta Quest 3 users report experiencing problems with the microphone of the mixed reality glasses. Meta says she is investigating the problems. The problems may be solved with software. It is not yet known if and when a fix will appear.

On platforms such as Reddit and X users complain since the release of the mixed reality glasses about the quality of the built-in microphone of the Quest 3. During the user’s speaking, there should also be popping sounds be heard.

YouTuber Mike VRO shares on social medium X an audio fragment where the microphone quality of various VR glasses can be heard, including those of the Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro. The more expensive Quest Pro headset released last year suffered from similar problems.

Some developers from VR games also say that users are reporting that the Quest’s microphone is automatically muted in the settings, without user intervention. Vice president leading VR at Meta, Mark Rabkin, says to investigate ‘this and all other various reports about the microphone’.

The Quest 3 was announced on September 27 at the Meta Connect event and released on October 10. The mixed reality headset is available from 549 euros. Due to the low demand for the Quest 3, Meta has now reduced production by up to 70 percent.
