Xiaomi will eventually replace its MIUI skin for Android with HyperOS. This new OS, which is still based on Android, will first be available with the Xiaomi 14 series flagship phones. HyperOS will eventually phase out MIUI completely.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirms the arrival of HyperOS on social media. The company says it has been working on the new Android skin for ‘years’. Xiaomi Vice President Alvin Tse reports that HyperOS will gradually replace the existing MIUI, the first version of which was released in 2010. The skin will have a ‘completely rewritten architecture’ and will probably not resemble MIUI, although the company is not currently sharing any images.

HyperOS will be introduced in the upcoming Xiaomi 14 phones. The smartphones previously appeared in renders. According to rumors, the phones will be released in November or December. The new skin should also be available outside China, Alvin Tse confirms. According to him, the skin is rolled out next year. Lei Jun writes on Weibo that the company started developing HyperOS in 2017.
