The Verge: Microsoft wants to complete Activision Blizzard acquisition as early as October 13

Microsoft wants to move the completion of the acquisition of game developer Activision Blizzard from October 18 to October 13. The Verge writes this based on a source involved in the process. Microsoft itself has not yet confirmed this.

According to The Verge moving the date depends on the decision of the British Competition and Markets Authority, or CMA. The market watchdog was busy collecting opinions about the deal and any objections until Friday. A final decision will be made next week by the CMA, which provisionally approved the deal in September. It is likely that the CMA’s final decision will not differ from the provisional decision.

The American competition authority FTC, on the other hand, is still trying to stop the $69 billion takeover. An appeal is pending in federal court against an earlier ruling, which the FTC did not agree with. The FTC is also trying to block the deal through its own administrative law judge.
