‘Nvidia is launching a new variant of GeForce RTX 3050 with 6GB GDDR6 memory’
Nvidia is reportedly planning to release a cheaper variant of the GeForce RTX 3050 next year. While the original, released in January 2022, contains 8GB of GDDR6 memory, this version of the video card has 6GB of VRAM.
That’s what Wccftech writes based on own sources. In addition to less GDDR6 memory, the GPU has also lost other specifications compared to the original RTX 3050, according to the site. For example, it reportedly has a 96-bit memory bus, while the 8GB version has a 128-bit bus. This also results in lower memory bandwidth; 168GB/s instead of 224GB/s. The TGP of the new variant is 70W, while the original has a 130W TPG. Although Wccftech does not know the number of cores, the GPU is said to have a 1470MHz boost clock, which is about 17 percent slower than the 1780MHz boost clock speed of the original.
The site reports that the card will go into production in January 2024, but it is not yet known when it will be sold. Wccftech expects the price to be around $150. It is unknown why Nvidia is now releasing an RTX 30 card, but the site expects that the manufacturer is trying to get rid of its older stock of Ampere GPUs.
