‘Google introduces Memory function in Bard to remember user preferences’

Google is reportedly working on a ‘Memory’ option in AI chatbot Bard. Android developer Dylan Roussel discovered this. This should make it possible for the bot to remember certain information about or preferences of the user for all future conversations.

If users activate the Memory option, users can enter certain pieces of information that Bard will remember for upcoming conversations, writes 9to5Google in collaboration with Roussel. Currently, every conversation starts with a clean slate. For example, if a user is a vegetarian, they must indicate that every time this Bard asks for recipes. However, it should soon be possible to create a reminder for this piece of information so that the bot automatically takes it into account in future conversations.

Even if, for example, the user wants the bot to give shorter answers, a reminder can be created for this, according to one of the examples that Google shows in an early version of the function. According to 9to5Google, the Memory function does not yet work, so it is still unclear how exactly it influences Bard’s answers. Got it earlier ChatGPT already has a similar feature called Custom Instructions.
