AMD claims to have found a solution to the USB problems of motherboards with a 500 series chipset. The company will come up with an Agesa update for this, which should be available to consumers in April.

AMD says on its website that the cause is now known. The company has said it has developed a fix “for a range of reported symptoms,” including dropped USB connections and crackling audio over USB 2.0 connections. The update is included in Agesa 1.2.0.2, which will be rolled out via bios updates for the motherboards in question.

The new Agesa version will be shipped to motherboard manufacturers in a week. According to AMD, the first bios beta versions with the new Agesa update are expected in early April. The exact release dates will vary by motherboard. Any users who continue to experience USB issues after the update are recommended to download the AMD Bug Report tool and report it to the CPU maker’s customer service.

The issues came to light earlier this year after several owners of 500 series motherboards reported intermittent USB connections to certain accessories. These included mice, keyboards, or VR headsets. AMD already announced in February that the company was aware of the problems and was working on an update, but did not provide details about a possible solution at the time.
