Fujifilm has announced the GFX100 II system camera. The second version of the GFX100 has a 102-megapixel sensor supported by the X-Processor 5. The camera will be available from the end of September for a suggested retail price of 7,999 euros.

Thanks to the updated image processing processor, the GFX100 II according to Fujifilm have a doubled signal speed compared to the current GFX100. In practice, this would increase the maximum recording speed of burst shots from five to eight frames per second. Furthermore, the system camera supports recording of 8k in 30fps or 4k in 60fps, which doubles the frame rate in the latter resolution. This is done in 10bit with 4:2:2 chroma subsampling internally. The predecessor did not support recordings in 8k at all.

The actual sensor, at 43.8 by 32.9 millimeters, is practically the same size as that of the predecessor. The sensitivity of this sensor is 80 to 12,800 ISO, with the lower limit being slightly lower than the 100 ISO of the GFX100.

In terms of dimensions, the rectangular GFX100 II is more conventional than its predecessor, which was almost square. The camera in question therefore looks more like the GFX100S. The suggested retail price of the system camera is also worth mentioning, because in the United States it is a quarter lower than that of its predecessor. The camera is also considerably cheaper than its predecessor in the Benelux, with a recommended retail price of 7,999 euros.
