Todd Howard: Starfield will receive official mod support in 2024
Bethesda boss Todd Howard promises that the recently released space RPG Starfield will receive official mod support sometime in 2024. For the time being, players can already install mods for the PC version of the game manually or via Vortex from NexusMods.
Howard gives in the interview with Famitsu no exact release date for official mod support for Starfield; For the time being, it is only known that the functionality should be available ‘next year’. Howard is probably talking about an updated version of the Creation Kit, although he does not specifically mention the name of these mod tools. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4 received Creation Kit support several months after the initial release date.
So far, gamers can add mods to the PC version of Starfield on a limited basis by placing fairly basic mod files such as cosmetic changes into certain folders. More advanced features require the unofficial Starfield Script Extender, which does not work well with the Xbox Game Pass and Microsoft Store versions of the game.
