Ubisoft games will receive crossplay and cross-progression through Ubisoft Connect
Ubisoft merges Uplay and Ubisoft Club into Ubisoft Connect. This new service consists of software that enables crossplay and cross-progression between PCs, consoles and streaming services. Users must log in with a Ubisoft account.
New Ubisoft titles will support cross-progression via Ubisoft Connect. The publisher cites examples such as Hyper Scape, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Riders Republic. Players can thus transfer their progress between different platforms. The game must be purchased on any platform.
Most new multiplayer games must also support crossplay through Ubisoft Connect, so that players on PC, consoles and streaming services can play together. Older titles do not get the crossplay and corss progression functionality, but statistics can be seen and compared with friends, for example.
Ubisoft Connect will be available for Windows, the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch from October 29. The service will also come ‘soon’ to the next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft and ‘later this year’ there will be integration with streaming services Google Stadia, Nvidia GeForce Now and Amazon Luna. You can download corresponding apps for Android and iOS immediately. That concerns the existing Ubisoft Club app; a kind of social network of the publisher.
