Apple makes AirPods available
Apple has started selling the AirPods. The wireless earphones cost 179 euros and will be delivered on December 20. Originally, the earphones should have been released in October, but the release was delayed.
The AirPods will ship on December 20, according to Apple’s website. The company announced the earphones during the iPhone 7 presentation in September and then said that they would be on sale from the end of October. The company later indicated that it needed “a little more time” to get the AirPods ready for customers. In the end it took two months longer.
According to rumors that appeared last week, the reason for the delays was the wireless connection. Both earphones connect independently of each other to, for example, a smartphone, but problems would arise with the synchronous playback of the sound. According to the rumors, Apple would therefore no longer be able to have the earphones in the shops before Christmas, but Apple appears to be able to do this now.
The Apple AirPods are the wireless counterparts of Apple’s well-known EarPods. They are completely wireless and use a Bluetooth connection for this. They can be controlled by giving Siri commands through the built-in microphones. They themselves have a battery life of 5 hours, but they come with a box that can serve as a power bank and extend the battery life to 25 hours.
