Google Chrome automatically blocks notifications on websites in the event of abuse

Chrome will automatically block the content of notifications if the browser has detected that the site in question is misusing notifications for malicious reports. The step is to protect users.

In some cases, Chrome’s crawler automatically allows notifications when sites request them and knows which notifications sites are sending, Google says. This concerns notifications to have users install malware or notifications that masquerade as a system notification for phishing, according to the company.

If so, Chrome will block the content of the notification and indicate it with an icon in the status bar, a bubble with a line through it. If users click on it, there is still the option to show the message.

The feature is similar to the misleading alert warning that appeared in Chrome 84, but the difference is that Google has now actually looked at the content of notifications recently.
