Diablo II: Resurrected Lets Players Import Old Save Games From Original
Diablo II: Resurrected, the upcoming remaster of the original 2000 Diablo II, can handle old save games. Players can import those and basically continue from where they left off in the original Diablo II.
Matthew Cederquist, the producer for Diablo II: Resurrected, says in an interview with IGN that importing original save files is possible and recommends that players keep them. “While we were working on the remaster, we wondered if the old save files would work. We sort of put them in and it worked!” Cederquist said. He and his team described the find as ‘the best feature ever’.
In Diablo II: Resurrected, cross-save functionality is present, so that the progression can be transferred from, for example, the PC to the console. However, the remaster doesn’t seem to get crossplay for multiplayer, so players can play together with both a PC and a console. Cederquist says he thinks it’s a nice idea, but that it doesn’t fit well into the game, pointing out the different UIs and control schemes.
Blizzard announced Diablo II: Resurrected last month. The game is set to release later this year for Windows, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The upcoming game is playable with the original look based on 2D sprites, or a new 3D look with modern lighting techniques. Furthermore, resolutions up to 4k are available, the sound goes up to 7.1 channels and all cinematics from the original have been recreated from scratch. The developer has also made the Lord of Destruction expansion part of Diablo II:Resurrected.
