HP will cut around one in six jobs in the coming years
HP will cut around one in six jobs within the company in the coming years. It concerns a total of between seven thousand and nine thousand jobs, the manufacturer says. The reorganization should be completed in 2022.
The reorganization is necessary to become ‘a more digital company’, claims HP. The decline in jobs is due to people retiring and having to leave, the company says. The reorganization will cost a total of one billion dollars in the coming years, but should yield a billion dollars in a few years.
The restructuring is the first major move led by the incoming CEO. The current director, Dion Weisler, will leave next month. His successor is Enrique Lores, who until now led the company’s printer division. Weisler was the first CEO of HP Inc after the split from HP in 2015, after which the company HPE was created for the enterprise market alongside HP Inc. Its director, Meg Whitman, left soon after the split.
