9to5Mac: Apple working on new monitor with integrated A13 soc
Apple may be working on a new external monitor. 9to5Mac reports this based on its own sources. The unannounced monitor would be powered by an A13-soc and Apple’s Neural Engine.
The project would be under development at Apple under code name ‘J327’, those involved revealed to 9to5Mac. The external monitor would be powered by an A13 Bionic-soc, the processor used in the iPhone 11 series. Furthermore, the Neural Engine cores should provide improved performance through machine learning. For example, the integrated SOC could be used to display high-resolution images without using all the computing power of the connected Mac PC.
Although no technical specifications are known, this would be a high-end external display. The alleged A13 monitor is said to replace the current Pro Display XDR. Rumors have been circulating for some time that Apple is working on a new cheaper monitor, but this unofficial information points to another display for professionals. The existing Pro Display XDR from 2019 costs at least 5499 euros, excluding the standard of 1099 euros.
