8BitDo coming October with Ultimate controllers for Switch and PCs
8BitDo will launch a new controller for the Nintendo Switch and PC in October. It is the 8BitDo Ultimate, which comes with its own charging dock. Like many other 8BitDo controllers, users can set the buttons as they see fit.
8BitDo comes with three different versions of its Ultimate controller. It is about wired controller, which will be the cheapest. In addition, there is a version that only supports 2.4Ghz connections via a dongle. Finally, there is the top model that can be connected wired, via 2.4 GHz and via bluetooth. The controller has a similar layout to the Xbox controller that the manufacturer announced earlier this year.
The 8BitDo Ultimate has a switch that allows you to switch between a mode for the Nintendo Switch and a mode for Windows 10 and 11. The controller is also suitable for gaming on iOS and Android. The dock comes with the controller. The controller itself is equipped with a 1000mAh battery, which can be recharged via the dock. The controller can also be charged with a USB-C cable.
The controller comes with 8BitDo’s ‘Ultimate Software’, which allows you to set the controller’s buttons. With the software, users can create macros, give buttons a different input or set the dead zones of the sticks. The software is available for PC, iOS and Android. Custom profiles cannot be set up on Nintendo Switch, but already saved profiles can be carried over. A total of three profiles can be stored on the 8BitDo Ultimate.
At the moment, the 8BitDo Ultimate can already be ordered via the American website of Amazon. There the controller costs 70 dollars. US customers can expect the controller on October 28. A release for the Benelux has not yet been announced, but usually 8BitDo also markets their controllers here.
