6 sweeping gestures you need to know

For everyone who owns an iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, it is probably getting used to at first. The device has no home button, so you have to operate your device in a different way: with sweeping gestures. In this article, we put the main iPhone XS sweeping gestures in a row.

iPhone XS sweeping gestures

Like the iPhone X, the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max have all kinds of sweeping gestures that take over the functions of the home button. And also the swipe movements that you already know are no longer the same, because the Control Panel conjures up in a completely different way. These are the iPhone XS sweeping gestures you need to know:

1. To the home screen

On your iPhone 8 (Plus) and parent, you put your finger on the home button and you were led to the home screen. That is different now: to unlock your iPhone XS, you make sure that Face ID recognizes you. The lock above the access screen then opens and to get to the home screen, you swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

2. Get rid of an app

Previously you taped the home button to go to the start screen from an app. Now you will see a dark gray horizontal line at the bottom of the screen when the apps are open. Swipe it up and you go back to the home screen.

3. Opening the control panel with iPhone XS Max

Of all sweeping gestures, this requires the most habituation. Previously you swept from bottom to top to open the Control Panel. With the iPhone XS you do this by swiping down from the top right corner (right of the notch).

4. Open the Notification Center

The Notification Center – where your notifications are collected – is called by swiping down from the top left of the screen.

5. Open search function

If you swipe down from the center of the screen, the search function will appear. This also conjures up the Siri suggestions in which you use frequently used apps.

6. Open app switch

Do you want to switch between apps quickly? You do that with the app switcher. You get this out by swiping up from the bottom of the screen and stopping in the middle of your screen. This way you can also close apps. You do this by swiping an app from the app switcher upwards.
