3DMark gets new interface and preview of VRMark
Futuremark has updated its benchmark suite 3DMark with, among other things, a new user interface and the possibility to install specific benchmarks. The Advanced and Professional suites have been updated with a preview of VRMark.
Users of the paid Advanced and Professional Editions of 3DMark can display two interactive virtual reality scenes not only on an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, but also on typical monitors. The preview of VRMark does not give a score yet, but that should happen with the final version. Scene 1 is intended for systems that meet the minimum requirements for the Oculus Rift, the second scene requires more from the system and is therefore intended for more powerful hardware.
In addition, the interface has been adapted for all users of the suite. Futuremark now initially shows the benchmark that the software finds suitable for the hardware found on the system on which it runs. Users can manually choose a benchmark other than the recommended one.
Futuremark has also overhauled the internal framework of the 3DMark app. Users will be able to download and install individual benchmarks in the future, making the initial download a lot smaller. In the future, 3DMark Advanced Edition will also allow users to update individual benchmarks to reduce the size of downloads. The DX12 benchmark Time Spy is not yet part of this release. The 3DMark 2.0.1979 release notes contain the details of the update.
