2K won’t say if and when Bioshock will return to the App Store
2K leaves open the option that the iOS version of the action RPG Bioshock will no longer return to the App Store. The game was pulled from App Store search results in July due to operating system compatibility issues. The developer is silent about an update.
With the arrival of iOS 8.4 on June 30, Bioshock for iOS ran into compatibility issues. In response, the game was removed from the App Store search results, and work began on an update. This is apparent from an archived version of the App Store page. The game was no longer available for purchase by users, but those who had already purchased the game in the past could download the game again if they deleted it. In the months that followed, Bioshock did not reappear in the App Store. Moreover, the game has since been completely removed from Apple’s digital store, a Touch Arcade forum user discovered.
Developer 2K does not respond to requests from Touch Arcade for comment, but another forum member did receive a response through the company’s customer service. The lady gave no indication of the game’s return but simply stated that 2K “doesn’t have the game for mobile at the moment” and that it was a “developer decision”. The customer service representative advises the user to request a refund from Apple to compensate him for the disappearance of the game. So it’s not entirely clear at this point whether the game will make a comeback or not. The customer service response leaves room for both scenarios. The game cost $9.99. The price in euros is unknown.
