2K Games postpones Evolve until 2015
Evolve will not be released on October 21 this year, but on February 10 of next year, 2K Games announced. The development team is given more time by the publisher to polish the look of the game. February is also a favorable period, says 2K Games.
The title will be given more time so that it can be brought to the market in optimal condition, says the financial director of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Games, in a telephone explanation of the company’s quarterly figures. “Historically, it’s always been beneficial to give development teams more time to polish the look of games, and we’ve never regretted that.”
In addition, the CEO states that the month of February is a favorable time to bring a game to the market, because there is little competition during that period. Because Take-Two’s financial year runs from April to April, a release on February 10 falls in the same financial year.
Evolve is made by Turtle Rock Studios, which previously had success with Left 4 Dead. In the game, four players form a team of Hunters who face off against a fifth player, who enters the arena as a huge monster. The game will be released for Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
