2K Games capture domain names Mafia game
Publisher 2K Games appears to have registered four different domain names on June 25, all related to Mafia III, a sequel to the games from 2002 and 2010. Rumors of a third Mafia game have been around for some time. There is no official announcement yet.
Publisher 2K Games appears to have registered the domain names mafia3thegame.com, mafiaiiithegame.com, mafiathree.com and mafiathreethegame.com. The domains aren’t active yet, but the naming shows that 2K plans to revive the series. However, the publisher hasn’t announced a third installment yet, so it’s unclear if Mafia III is already in production.
Rumors about a third part in the series have been going on for some time, however. As early as March 2012, it was leaked that developer 2K Czech would be working on a third installment, after a year of pre-production work. Later that year, it was revealed that 2K was planning to release the game simultaneously with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. However, problems during development would have caused delays. At the beginning of this year, voice actor Rick Pasqualone fed the rumours. He spoke the voice of Vito Scaletta, the main character of Mafia II and let slip in January that “some exciting news may be coming soon.”
