2K Games Announces Xcom 2
Firaxis Games is working on Xcom 2, the sequel to Xcom: Enemy Unknown, which the studio released in late 2012. The game will be released for Windows, OS X and Linux and will be released by 2K Games at the end of 2015.
The hints that publisher 2K Games placed online at the end of May turn out to be for Xcom 2. The Advent Administration, which the hints revolved around, appears to want to improve the lives of Earthlings through genetic engineering. However, the organization is not undisputed. The player seems to take on the role of the resistance against the Advent, which seems to be led by aliens. In that scenario, the aliens that threatened Earth in predecessor Xcom: Enemy Unknown would have won. However, not much more is known about the game. A first trailer, which 2K Games only offers via IGN, shows that the game will be released at the end of this year and will appear for Windows, OS X and Linux.
2K Games will show the game in more detail during the E3 game show, which will take place from June 16-18 in Los Angeles. We hope to learn more about the game then. With Xcom: Enemy Unkown and Xcom 2, 2K Games is reviving an old series. Both games build on the X-Com games that developer MicroProse delivered in the 1990s.
