2K Games Announces Civilization: Revolution Sequel for iOS and Android

2K Games announced Monday that a sequel to Civilization Revolution will be released. From July 2, gamers with an iOS device will be able to get started with Revolution 2. The game will also come to Android devices at a later point, although it is not yet known when.

According to 2K, Civilization Revolution 2 will be the first game in the Civ series to be released exclusively for mobile devices. The first CivRev appeared before it came to mobile devices, including the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo DS. In the game, gamers can play as one of the sixteen historical leaders who were also in the original game, including Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi and Napoleon. However, there are also some new leaders like Churchill and Kennedy.

2K has announced that CivRev 2 will be available for iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini and iPod Touch. It is still unknown how much the app will cost, although its predecessor currently costs 2.69 euros. With the announcement, there will be a sequel to the Revolution series, despite a report in 2011 that the development of the then unannounced game would have ceased.
