2K Games adds advertising video to NBA 2K21 loading screen

2K Games has started showing commercial videos on NBA2K21 loading screens. Players cannot skip the ads. The game has been out for a month, but the movies were not in the game before.

The ad video will be viewable in-game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows, Stevivor writes. The website has also made a video; it can be seen that during loading a screen appears with an advertising video from Facebook for the Oculus Quest. The ad is taped to an in-game video that is shown while loading.

It is not possible to skip the ad. There is also no option to turn off the showing of the commercials. NBA 2K21 was released in early September for current generation consoles and Windows. There were no video ads in the game at the time.

On reddit, players are complaining about the ad. They also complain that 2K Games has a monopoly when it comes to NBA basketball games. There are no other publishers that make comparable basketball games.

The situation is similar to the fighting game UFC 4. In September, that game from EA suddenly appeared short advertising messages during the display of replays. Also with this game the ads were added a month after its release. After many players complained about this, EA removed the commercials from the game.
